DeWall's Forge is able to provide many services in the field of Blacksmithing. From art and home goods to custom Knives and hand tools, and functional works, DeWall's forge has you covered.
WOODWORKING
DeWall's Forge has created many different projects that feature woodworking. Night stands, tables, cabinets and dressers are some of the larger works I have created most frequently. Many small projects are also able to be accomplished such as custom cutting boards, replacement knife handles, display boxes, and keepsake boxes are a few of the many items that I enjoy working on. The unique part of DeWall's Forge woodworking is that the items I make are able to be paired with unique custom hardware and metal fittings if desired or necessary.
Artwork
Beautiful paintings, drawings, and pyrography are now apart of our repertoire. Check out our art gallery to see more paintings and burning made by Abby!
Pottery
We offer pottery for sale. Abby creates mugs, wax-melters, bowls, and many other wonderful pieces from clay. Each piece is unique and showcases her wonderful style.
General Metalworking
Aside from blacksmithing, we offer some general metalworking and repair work. Travis has been blacksmithing and fabricating since he was 14 years old and enjoys a good challenge. He specializes in working with iron and steel and has fixed up many trailers and broken tools over the years.
Sawmill
The newest addition to the forge/ homestead is our custom made Sawmill. Travis created this over the summer of 2021 and is using it to supply some of our own lumber for the projects we create. We collect logs from the area to turn into beautiful lumber and art.
CUSTOM WORK
If we don’t have it listed, feel free to inquire about custom pieces. We particularly enjoy creating custom art pieces and furniture for display, and will work with you through the design process, making something that can be proudly displayed for a lifetime (or more!)
Lessons
It is great to be able to have knowledge of a craft, but it is even more important to pass that knowledge on. DeWall's Forge often travels around the state of Michigan during the summer months to do live demonstrations at various shows in order to spread awareness and knowledge of Blacksmithing. I have also done private shows and will work with you in setting up an event.I believe it is important to volunteer in the community and have helped local boy scout and cadet troops when I am able to. Cost will vary from event to event depending on the locations distance, desired time, and so on. Beginners courses and Blacksmithing classes are also something that DeWall's Forge can offer. Usually beginners courses will start at around $70 per person to cover time and materials, and there will be a set number of slots offered in each class. A liability waiver will also be required in order to participate in the course. In the case of a minor, a parent or guardian has to sign a release, and must be present during the course. Courses will be posted and may be subject to cancellation if there isn't enough interest.
