Life on the Farm at DeWall’s Forge
The Farm Of All Trades is another name we go by. We feel it is a little more Comprehensive than DeWall’s Forge. There is a lot more going on with our homestead than just forging. We enjoy diving into many different trades, and we happen to live on a small farm. We offer some fresh vegetables and occasionally baked goods through the summer. Year round we have a rabbitry and keep egg laying chickens. We seek to mimic the patterns of nature with our farming systems. We are learning from the pioneers before us, and developing our own infrastructure to fuel a system of regenerative agriculture that both sustains life and heals the land.

Pastured Pork
We take pride in raising healthy, happy pigs the way nature intended — on pasture, with room to roam and root. Our pork is flavorful, high-quality, and responsibly raised right here on the homestead. Each winter, we open a limited number of spots for half or whole hog orders, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rabbitry: Pastured Rabbits & Natural Composting
At DeWall’s Forge Homestead, our rabbitry features a mix of New Zealand Cross and Rex/Rex Cross rabbits — raised with care and respect in a healthy, natural environment.During the summer months, our rabbits are pastured in open fields, where they graze on fresh grass, stretch their legs, and live as nature intended. In winter, they move into a warm, ventilated hoop house designed for comfort and sanitation.Their waste combines with our chickens’ bedding to create nutrient-rich compost — a key part of our regenerative farming cycle. This closed-loop system transforms what might be waste into valuable fertilizer that enriches our gardens and sustains the land.We consistently breed our rabbits and often have young bunnies available for sale. If you’re looking for healthy, well-cared-for rabbits to add to your homestead, we’d be happy to connect you.

Egg-Laying Chickens: Farm Fresh Eggs and Composting Helpers
Our flock of egg-laying chickens provides fresh, nutritious eggs year-round. In the summer, the chickens roam freely, foraging for bugs and grazing on fresh grasses. In winter, they play an important role in our composting system. Their natural behavior helps turn and aerate the bedding beneath the rabbit pens, which keeps everything hygienic and minimizes odors. These chickens are not only a great source of fresh eggs, but they also contribute to our regenerative farming practices by helping to break down organic matter and turning waste into valuable compost. Their constant scratching and clucking are a joy to watch and a vital part of our farm ecosystem.
