At DeWall’s Forge, craftsmanship doesn’t end with iron and fire — it extends into the grain of wood. Our woodworking shop produces everything from custom furniture to small handcrafted pieces, all designed with the same care, creativity, and attention to detail that defines our forge.

We’ve built a wide range of projects over the years, including nightstands, tables, cabinets, and dressers, as well as smaller works like custom cutting boards, replacement knife handles, display boxes, and keepsake boxes. Each piece is made by hand, using high-quality materials and traditional joinery techniques.

What makes our woodworking truly unique is our ability to combine wood and metal — pairing fine joinery with custom-forged hardware and iron fittings crafted right here in the forge. The result is a perfect blend of strength and style — timeless pieces built to last for generations.

Our Custom Sawmill

The newest addition to the forge and homestead is our custom-built sawmill, designed and constructed by Travis in 2021. This sawmill allows us to mill our own lumber for projects, giving us full control over quality and sustainability.

We collect and process local logs from around Michigan, transforming them into beautiful, usable lumber for furniture, artwork, and custom builds. By sourcing and milling our own wood, we ensure every board and beam has a story — one rooted in craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and respect for the materials we use.
