Traditionally made and forged fire pokers are among our favorite tools to craft — not only because they’re built to perform, but because each one carries the mark of the forge. Every Harpoon Fire Poker is hand-forged in our shop using a blend of ancient blacksmithing techniques and modern craftsmanship, resulting in a tool that’s both functional and timeless.

This poker is forged from solid square stock and features a traditional twist through the middle, ending in a tapered harpoon-style tip. It’s the kind of piece that looks as good by the hearth as it feels in your hand — made to stoke the fire, not fade with time. Each poker is unique, with subtle hammer marks and natural variations that remind you it was made by hand, not machine.

We make these to last generations — tools that can be appreciated, used, and passed down rather than discarded and replaced.

Details:

  • Length: Approximately 32–36 inches

  • Material: Hand-forged carbon steel

  • Design: Twisted shaft with harpoon-style tip

  • Finish: Traditional beeswax “hot wax” coating

  • Function: Fireplace, campfire, or wood stove use

Care and Use:
We finish our pokers with a natural beeswax-based coating, applied hot — much like seasoning cast iron. This seals the metal, enhances its color, and brings out the character of every hammer mark.

Storage:
Store indoors or under cover when not in use. Though built to last, these are carbon steel and can rust if left out in the elements. If rust appears, clean gently with a wire brush or mild abrasive pad.

Re-Sealing:
Once cleaned, reseal with a food-safe oil such as mineral, linseed, or vegetable oil. This simple care keeps your poker looking beautiful and ready for years of fires to come.
